Viewing Room at the Carnegie

Due to the COVID pandemic, the Heart of the City Festival, like so many other organizations, has had to adapt from our normal ways of presenting. While we are adding numerous events online and on the Festival website, we recognize that many members of the community are not able to participate online as they don’t have access to internet service.

To reach out, the Festival has set up a viewing room in the Carnegie Theatre, 401 Main on the evenings of Thursday October 28, Friday October 29, Sunday October 31 and Tuesday November 2, where we will present streamed Festival programming and On Demand viewing. See each day in the schedule for specific details. Limited capacity, controlled entry and safety protocols in place.

Safety Protocols

In response to the reality of COVID, many of the Downtown Eastside Heart of the City Festival events take place online, outdoors, or indoors for intimate audiences. The festival is following current health and safety measures to ensure audiences, artists and staff remain safe during the festival.

Proof of vaccination and masks are required for entry to indoor concerts and theatre events with more than 50 people and at the discretion of the hosting venues. For indoor spaces (including enclosed tents) with fewer than 50 people, capacity limits, use of face masks and distancing protocols will be in place.

We encourage you to wear face masks at public events, to wash your hands or use hand sanitizer, to practice physical distancing, to not attend an event if you're not feeling well, to treat others with respect, and to greet people with a smile and a wave of the hand.
