Bud’s poetry speaks to the reality of life in the DTES. In the first part of the workshop you will learn a variety of techniques for creating vivid and astonishing shadow theatre performances using flashlights, old-fashioned transparency projectors, objects from thrift stores, and “special effects” materials like mirrored and coloured plastic. In the second half, everyone will work together to apply the techniques, creating shadow theatre adaptations of several of Bud’s poems. Those who want to stay will have a chance to perform what we have created for the public at 3pm. No experience required, just a willingness to try.
