MOBILE*NATIVE
November 8 to December 8
W2 Perel Gallery, 112 W. Hastings

Hailing from Catalan, Antoni Abad brings his zexe.net initiative as artist-in-residence to W2 as we prepare to launch a new mobile literacy and intervention project with First Nations youth across Canada. Mobile*Native introduces eight local youth (aged 15-30) to mobile technology and digital storytelling. The residency builds on the two years’ development of Fearless City Mobile, as well as the pioneering digital divide work that Abad has conducted in communities worldwide with megafone.net. Abad’s work is an important example of “architecture” of participation and socializing of spaces and tools. Zexe.net develops a network of “citizen ethnographers”, meaning that users become critical investigators of their own community. Registration info: www.creativetechnology.org
