Opening night of the 4th Annual Downtown Eastside Heart of the City Festival. Join Ya-wen V. Accompanied by water image projections by award-winning photographer Eydis S. Einarsdottir, the evening features a three-piece band with Ya-wen V. Wang (piano), Russell Sholberg (bass), and Joel Lower (percussion/drums), along with Colin MacDonald (sax), DTES residents Rachel Davis (pop vocals) and Gena Thompson (poetry & songs), Melissa Elton (jazz vocal), the Treble-Makers (vocal ensemble), Claire McLaughlin and Mori Zuit¨¥n (classical voice) and Jessica Jone (dance and movement). FEARLESS TV #10:
IN THE HEART OF THE CITY FESTIVAL
Wednesday October 24, 8pm – 9pm
Shaw Cable 4
Fearless TV is pleased to present community television as part of the Heart Of the City Festival, on Shaw cable 4 in Metro Vancouver. This broadcast features the video Heart and Home: Inner City directed by Anne Marie Slater (2006), alongside interviews with Festival artists and participants, including Anne Marie that were recorded at Gallery Gachet this September. Initiated in February 2007 by ACCESSTV (Association of Chinese Canadians for Equality and Solidarity Society) at the Carnegie Community Centre, Fearless TV is a regularly scheduled community television program on people and issues in the Downtown Eastside—a concrete result of the perseverance and hard work of volunteers of the DTES Community Arts Network Film and Video cluster (CAN-FV).
